Who Prof. Ramana Accepts
Prof. Ramana accepts GP referrals for hernia surgery (all types), bariatric and weight loss surgery, hiatus hernia and reflux, abdominal wall reconstruction, and general surgical consultations. He operates at John Fawkner Private Hospital (Coburg), Northern Private Hospital (Epping), Epworth Freemasons (East Melbourne). All major private health funds are accepted. Uninsured and self-funded patients are also welcome.
Appointment Waiting Times
New patient appointments are typically available within 1–2 weeks. For patients with suspected incarcerated hernias, acute biliary disease, or other time-sensitive presentations, same-week consultation can usually be arranged. Please call the rooms to discuss urgent referrals.
Referral Letters & Reports
Consultation letters are sent to the referring GP within 48 hours of the appointment. Operative reports are dispatched promptly following surgery. Prof. Ramana prioritises clear, timely communication with the referring doctor throughout the patient's surgical journey.
